Happy New Year!

I think the kids' favorite place to sit and eat snacks is up on the heating unit behind the couch. You can see the cracks in the wall from where the previous owner of this unit had mirrors hanging that we decided needed to go. See anything different with Alex???

We finally cut Alex's hair, this was as we were trying to comb it out. It's not drastically different, he just doesn't look like we live in a trailer park anymore.

We couldn't get a picture of Alex in front of the xmas tree, this was about as good as we could get.

Alex's broken snowman from the "blizzard" we had 2 weeks ago. He was talking for days about it. Too bad Daci (who built it with the boys) didn't get a picture before it got knocked down!

We've had a nice quiet day at home today, with way too much Super Mario Bros on the Wii. I have the next week off from work and have absolutely nothing planned. :)

Walking in a winter wonderland

video

video

So not really a winter wonderland, more like a really huge pain in the butt since I have to work at the children's hospital tonight and we're just hoping we can make it (Daci planning to drive me in). But the boys think it's excellent fun to go outside and get drenched and freezing. :)

Mr. Sun

video

Alexandru started singing his favorite song "Mr. Sun, Sun" this morning and didn't even stop when he saw I had the camera. And don't worry, he helped me clean up the mess in the living room a little while later. :)

Chocolate!

We've found that Alexandru will willingly come running to do his "puff-puff" (inhaled steroids to try to decrease inflammation in his lungs from reflux and his uncoordinated swallow) if we watch youtube clips with him on our laptops. Lots of "Elmo ducky song" and anything involving cats or dogs will keep him entertained.

See Memo, I made it! :) Pumpkin chocolate cheesecake from the Death by Chocolate cookbook. Doesn't look too good, as I can't at all figure out how to put crumbs all over the side of cake. Anna and I just kind of threw and mushed them on, using the pizza pan to catch the mess. Luckily, it tastes delicious.

And boy, one of these days we're going to have to get a new table. The Kitchenaid mixer was making it really wobble this afternoon as I was getting the cheesecakes mixed up, I kind of expected the legs to break off. Plus, sorry Papa, it's ugly.

I'm on vacation this week, and last weekend we headed up to Philadelphia to see some friends and then to NYC for a couple nights. Had a great time, the boys were overall better behaved than I expected. I did not, however, pull the camera out until we returned to DC and I took this picture as we got off the interstate.

Another video of Alexandru messily eating chocolate. Super-exciting, I know. I made extra ganache today and unsurprisingly William thought that chocolate cookies dipped in it were the tastiest compared to the various fruits we cut up to try. Alex was excited to just eat the ganache straight up with a spoon. Clearly he doesn't like to share...

1, 2, 3...

video

Sorry, we probably shouldn't ask him to count when his mouth is full of cookie.

Just trying this out

video

We just bought a flip video camcorder (happy early birthday to me!) so I wanted to see what this exceptionally boring clip looked like online. :)

Will hopefully have better stuff to post soon!

A couple of videos

video

Tennis lessons.

William has had two so far and seems to really enjoy it. Last week his Aunt Mary and Aunt M.G. were there as well as Emily, so he had a whole cheerleading group. :) Besides tennis, he's becoming quite the pro at various Wii games too. And he's learning to read!

video

Sorry this is so dark -- you can pretty much just hear how cute he sounds. Emily found that Alex can be quite the mimic. :) His vocabulary seems to be expanding daily: "read book" "Elmo" "Anna!" "vrei down" "help please!" are his latest favorites. We've had to start giving him nebulizer treatments of inhaled steroids and he's just not a big fan of being held down while we hold a mask to his face. Tonight at least he only cried for about 3/4 of the treatment. We promised him chocolate for a reward afterwards but all he wanted when it was over was some "booby" time with Mama.
